Yuchai YCK15N: The largest displacement and maximum torque gas engine in China, unafraid of the challenge of life's forbidden zone

At the end of September, the Shaanxi Automobile Commercial Vehicle Wing 3 LNG tractor equipped with a Yuchai YCK15N 570-horsepower engine successfully reached the summit of the Tanggula Pass, which is the highest altitude of 5,231 meters on the Qinghai-Xizang Highway. This is one of the most rigorous real vehicle tests carried out by Yuchai gas engine YCK15N. Previously, this gas engine has completed tests at temperatures of minus 40 degrees Celsius and 45 degrees Celsius, as well as comprehensive road condition tests covering over 10 million kilometers in total.

For this high-altitude experimental journey, the convoy set off from Golmud at an altitude of 2,800 meters, passed through the Kunlun Pass at 4,768 meters, crossed five ridges and the Tuotuo River in the middle, and finally arrived at the Tanggula Pass at an altitude of 5,231 meters. After completing the experiment, we turned back the same way, covering a total distance of approximately 1,200 kilometers. The entire journey is not only at a high altitude with a large temperature difference between day and night, but also has harsh road conditions and unpredictable climate. It passes through many unpaved off-road surfaces, which is a severe test for both people and vehicles.

Even in the face of an altitude difference of over 2,000 meters, the Yuchai YCK15N 570-horsepower LNG tractor has not experienced a significant power decline. Liang Shizhou from Yuchai's R&D team participated in this high-altitude trip. He said that in order to verify the vehicle's performance, they climbed slopes and overtook all the way from Wudaoliang to Tanggula Pass, with an average altitude of 4,500 meters. This Yuchai YCK15N gas engine, which has the largest displacement of 14.8L and a maximum torque of 2750N·m in the industry, demonstrates an excellent power level. The vehicle accelerates quickly, outputs smoothly, and climbs slopes easily, making the application of gas engines on the Qinghai-Xizang Line a reality.
