How to maintain and service the diesel engine of a high-altitude platform in summer?

1. Check the oil level of the engine oil every day and replace the engine oil and oil filter element regularly.

(1) Checking the oil level of the engine oil every day can accurately grasp the working condition of the diesel engine. If the oil level is found to be lower or higher than the scale range of the oil dipstick, the diesel engine must not be started under any circumstances.

(2) When changing the engine oil, to remove the dirty oil as much as possible, please run the diesel engine in advance until the coolant temperature reaches 60°C, then turn off the diesel engine and open the oil drain plug of the oil pan to drain the oil.

(3) Replace the engine oil and oil filter element according to the maintenance cycle provided by the diesel engine supplier. The maintenance cycle for most diesel engine lubrication systems is every 250 hours or 3 months, whichever comes first.

2. Check the coolant level and temperature every day to ensure the normal operation of the diesel engine cooling system.

Do not directly open the radiator pressure cap from a hot diesel engine. The pressure cap of the radiator should not be opened until the coolant temperature drops below 50° C. Otherwise, the high-temperature coolant or steam may spray out and cause personal injury.

(2) If the coolant level is found to be low, the diesel engine must not be started. The same grade of coolant should be replenished immediately and filled up to the bottom of the radiator tank's filling neck.

3. Drain the water and sediment in the oil-water separator every day, check the diesel oil level and diesel pipelines to prevent air from entering the diesel pipelines, which may cause difficulties in starting.

4. Check the intake pipe every day for any damage and whether the clamps are loose. Ensure that the intake pipe is well connected and that the air filter element is clean and firmly installed. According to the requirements of the diesel engine supplier, the air filter element should be replaced regularly. The replacement cycle for most diesel engine air filter elements is every 250 hours or every three months, whichever comes first.

5. Check the drive belt and cooling fan to ensure that the cooling system and charging are functioning properly.

The belt should be checked every day. Check if the belt has any cross-cracks. Transverse (width direction) cracks are acceptable. Longitudinal cracks that cross transverse cracks are unacceptable.

If the belt is worn or damaged, it should be replaced. Apply a force of 110 N to the V-belt between the pulleys to check the belt tension. If the deflection per foot of the pulley center distance exceeds the belt thickness, the belt tension must be adjusted.

(2) The cooling fan should be visually inspected every day. Check for cracks, loose rivets, bent or loose blades. Check the fan and make sure it is securely installed. Tighten the screws if necessary.

The daily maintenance and upkeep of diesel engines are of vital importance. Correct inspection can keep track of the operating status of diesel engines at all times and prevent premature wear of diesel engines.
