At the 2022 bauma exhibition, BOMAG showcased its new operation concept for the BM/65 series of cold planers, which will be launched in the spring of 2023. Further development focuses on high levels of automation and intuitive access to all functions. Whether you are a beginner or an experienced operator of the BMG cold planer, you will quickly become familiar with the system. The intelligent in-vehicle information and assistance system is tailor-made according to the actual workflow and can be easily customized using user profiles. The aim is to minimize the burden on operators as much as possible at each construction site through useful automation and additional functions, and to provide clear real-time images in the cockpit through up to six surveillance cameras.

The new central display screen of the machine clearly integrates all important working information and operational functions. A 7-inch color display screen hovers above the center console in the operator's field of vision, providing high-quality images that are easy to read even in strong light.

Operate by touching or rotating buttons and soft keys. Frequently needed menus and Settings can be directly and quickly invoked through the "Quick Selection" function at the bottom of the display screen. For instance, the operator only needs to press a button to select leveling. Thanks to the flat surface and clear menu navigation, operators can quickly find their own way and respond immediately to changes in the workflow. Easy-to-understand visualizations and clear ICONS form the basis for safe interaction with the complex technical systems on cold planers. Information is everything: That's why operators can now conveniently record important construction site data through the control panel, such as the number and weight of loaded trucks.

When the new operation concept was released, the control panel of the ground operator was also visually unified with that of the operator station. This enables ground operators to have full access to all information and functions, allowing the operator team to avoid repositioning themselves and promoting communication within the team.

Panoramic view of the scene

There are up to six cameras on the cold planer, and each side of the machine can provide a perfect 180° panoramic view. Images from the camera system are displayed on a high-resolution 10-inch camera screen above the control panel. The auxiliary system is highly intelligent and can automatically display the corresponding real-time camera images based on the working conditions. This enables drivers to keep a close eye on everything, significantly enhancing safety.

My machine: Easily personalize Settings

But that's not all: Each driver works differently; Each construction site has different requirements. This is why the new operation concept of Bomag now allows standard Settings to be easily saved in the user's profile. Therefore, even if the driver changes, the planer can be put into use immediately, and all operators truly start "their" machine. Different displays can be configured to match the work site.
