Highlight: To ensure excellent crack resistance and good anti-skid performance, and to extend the road's lifespan, modified asphalt materials such as SMA asphalt and horseshoe grease are usually used in the surface coating of expressways. Compared with conventional asphalt materials, this material not only has high requirements for paving temperature, but also has strict requirements for the temperature during initial and re-compaction.
Especially in the winter when the ambient temperature is low, the window period for compaction is even more urgent. This places very high demands on the compaction efficiency, reliability and stability of the double steel wheel roller, which is responsible for the initial and re-compaction processes.
In this project, the operator set a high-frequency vibration of 60 Hz for the HD 138i VV high-frequency heavy-duty double steel wheels. The equipment was not affected by the engine load and maintained a stable frequency throughout the compaction operation, adopting a high-speed compaction speed of 5.9 km/h.
Moreover, for large-scale compaction tasks like those on expressways, the HD 138i VV, with the intelligent walking function of the HAMMTRONIC intelligent compaction control system, allows the operator to easily set the maximum walking speed by simply tapping on the operation panel. This also avoids the human error of over-speed compaction that may occur during rush hours. While making the operation easier for the operator, there is no need to worry about the quality risk of excessive crushing.
In addition, with the considerate automatic slow start and slow stop function, even during the reciprocating high-speed pressure operation, it can avoid the backpacking and pitting phenomena that were prone to occur during manual operation when starting and stopping in the past. These walking intelligent control details make the compaction effect less affected by the actual experience and operation level of the operator, which can effectively improve the uniformity and flatness of the overall compaction.
