The method of braking by the hydraulic system of wheeled construction machinery when going down a long slope
Due to the limited opportunities for long-distance travel, wheeled construction machinery does not have exhaust braking devices on their engines. However, when going down long slopes, because of their heavy weight, the pressure on the brake shoes is high, and the heat dissipation area is small, which often leads to the erosion of the brake shoes and brake failure, and even causes vehicle destruction and casualties. Therefore, we have attempted to use the hydraulic system of the machinery itself to replace the exhaust braking of the engine. To reduce the wear on the braking system of wheeled machinery when going down long slopes and improve the safety of braking.
1. Braking principle
Wheeled construction machinery is heavy in weight. When moving up and down slopes, the engine can be continuously accelerated through the transmission system, and even cause the machine to speed up. If the load of the hydraulic pump is increased at this time, the engine speed can be reduced. At this point, the potential energy of the mechanical weight is converted into heat energy through the hydraulic system and then dissipated through the hydraulic oil radiator. The hydraulic system will simultaneously brake all four wheels through the transmission device (but there will be no locking phenomenon), so it can effectively prevent the mechanical machine from skidding and losing direction when driving on snowy and muddy roads.
2. The operation method of hydraulic braking for wheeled excavators when going down a long slope
Before going down a long slope, drive the hydraulic pump, shift gears and go down. When the vehicle speed exceeds the required level, pull the right outrigger control lever with your right hand to reduce the speed.
3. The operation method of hydraulic braking for wheeled bulldozers when going down a long slope
Before going down a long slope, engage the locking clutch. When going down a long slope and the vehicle speed exceeds the required speed, use the right hand to pull the scraper control lever back to lift the scraper to slow down the bulldozer, and adjust the braking efficiency by adjusting the opening degree of the throttle valve.
4. Precautions
This method cannot be used for emergency braking. For machinery that is prone to disengagement, this braking method becomes ineffective simultaneously after disengagement. At this time, the foot brake should be applied. Foot brakes and hydraulic brakes can be used simultaneously or separately without affecting each other. This method is ineffective for wheel loaders.
