Allison has launched the eGen PowerTM fully integrated zero-emission electric drive axle for medium and heavy-duty commercial trucks
eGen PowerTM is the second product under Allison's recently announced eGenTM brand of all-electric and hybrid solutions, a move that demonstrates Allison's leading position in the future commercial vehicle electric drive field.
Indianapolis, USA, December 2020 - Allison Transmission, the world's largest manufacturer of fully automatic transmissions for medium and heavy commercial vehicles and a provider of system solutions for commercial vehicle drives (including hybrid and pure electric), is pleased to announce the launch of its latest series of fully integrated zero-emission electric drive axles, eGen Power.
eGen PowerTM is the second product under the eGenTM brand of all-electric and hybrid solutions recently announced by Allison. Allison will introduce the eGen Power 100D, which has a gross axle load ratio (GAWR) of 23,000 pounds and is the first electric drive axle in the eGen Power series. Recently, Allison has built a 110,000-square-foot electric drive axle development and manufacturing plant in Auburn Hills, Michigan, and will produce eGen Power electric drive axles at this plant.
eGen Power 100D is one of the most powerful and fully integrated electric drive axle systems for medium and heavy-duty trucks in the world. It has two motors, each capable of generating a continuous power of 200kW, with a total power of 400kW and a peak power of up to 550kW. The eGen Power 100D also integrates a two-speed transmission in a central housing to enhance the starting slope, maximum speed and efficiency, as well as an optional differential lock. This advantage helps to increase the driving range or reduce the size of the battery pack, optimizing the cost performance of the eGen Power electric drive axle.
Considering these advantages, Hino Trucks and Hexagon Purus chose to integrate the Allison eGen Power 100D into the Hino XL7 truck and announced on October 5, 2020 that their zero-emission vehicle "Project Z" would showcase this model of vehicle.
Glenn Ellis, Senior Vice President of Customer Experience at Hino Trucks, said: "Hino Trucks and Allison Transmission have a long-term partnership, as evidenced by our industry-leading five-year powertrain warranty and Allison being standard on all Hino traditional trucks." When we launched the zero-emission vehicle project Z, we hoped to incorporate Allison's eGen Power electric drive axle into the products we will offer in the future.
Branden Harbin, President of Global Markets for Allison Transmissions, said: "Allison will continue to build our electrification product portfolio under the Allison eGen brand and continuously advance product quality through validation programs in collaboration with the world's leading truck original equipment manufacturers." Our commitment to our customers is to provide the world's most reliable and valuable drive solutions to help them work more efficiently. We plan to continue providing optional drive solutions, regardless of the power source or drive type.
