Major technological innovations have embarked on a new journey for coal mining machinery

XCMG Foundation has entered the coal mining sector since 2011. In October 2012, XCMG's EBZ132, 160, 200 and 260 series roadheaders were awarded XCMG's major technological innovation Project. Relying on its strong R&D platform for construction machinery, XCMG has launched an assault on coal mining machinery.

The creation and transformation of coal mine roadheaders has entered the non-coal field

In 2013, XCMG Foundation introduced coal mine tunnel boring machines to non-coal fields and achieved success for the first time in a tunnel construction project in Sichuan. The application in non-coal fields has expanded the usage scope of coal mine roadheaders, improved the construction efficiency of tunnels and non-coal mine roadways, and also promoted the development of the coal mining machinery industry.

In June 2014, the first cantilever tunnel boring machine in China, XCMG XTR260, was successfully developed, effectively enhancing the quality and efficiency of tunnel construction, promoting the transformation of domestic tunnel construction models, and filling the gap of cantilever tunnel boring machines in China.

While XCMG tunnel boring machines are engaged in green mine construction in domestic markets such as Sichuan, Yunnan and Shandong, they are also exported to countries and regions like Indonesia and Montenegro.

Calm down and build up strength for innovative development

In June 2019, XCMG tunnel boring machines were used in the construction of the Dali-Ruili Railway project, which is known as the "world's most difficult tunnel to dig" and the "geological museum of tunnel construction in China". With their strong rock-breaking capacity, stable quality and no material jamming, they significantly reduced the disturbance to the surrounding rock, effectively prevented the risk of tunnel collapse caused by blasting, and made the construction of the tunnel face smoother. Moreover, the construction efficiency is 30% higher than that of the traditional blasting method.

In July 2019, XCMG delivered 30 roadheaders to Ningxia Coal Industry Group of National Energy. These were custom-made products based on the customer's requirements. Since then, XCMG roadheaders have been purchased by system customers on multiple occasions.

After being tested in multiple super projects and trusted by system customers, XCMG tunnel boring machines have accumulated potential. In 2019, XCMG's domestic market share of tunnel boring machines remained the top.

Efficient integration and precise segmentation

In August 2019, XCMG Foundation intensified its research and development efforts on coal mine tunneling machinery and tunnel tunneling equipment. In October of that year, XCMG Foundation participated in an important exhibition with its latest models of roadheaders, continuous coal mining machines, wheeled roadheader cars and other products, showcasing the latest technologies of XCMG's coal mining machinery. The products attracted much attention and favor.

In July 2020, the XCMG DC series explosion-proof diesel monorail hoist was successfully rolled off the production line. As the largest diesel-powered monorail hoist in China, the XCMG DC336Y can achieve heavy-load and large-inclination-angle up and down mountain transportation, significantly enhancing the overall transportation efficiency of the machine.

In December 2021, XCMG Foundation, in collaboration with universities and system customers, carried out collaborative innovation and successfully developed the multi-functional tunnel boring machine XTR5/260M, which was responsible for the excavation construction of the water diversion tunnel in central Yunnan and attracted much attention from the industry.

XCMG's mining and tunnel sector has risen rapidly, providing users with complete construction solutions for open-pit and underground mines. Products such as underground loaders, rock drilling jumpers, and cantilever tunnel boring machines have realized a complete set of mining and tunnel machinery and equipment covering the entire construction process of exploration, excavation, mining, anchoring, injection, and transportation.

Super equipment: Central media Focus

In September 2022, XCMG tunnel boring machines made a grand appearance on CCTV-9's large-scale documentary "Super Equipment".

The documentary showcases the XCMG XTR7/360, the largest tonnage tunnel boring machine in domestic batch application, as well as the XTR8/500, the world's largest tonnage single-arm tunnel boring machine capable of achieving maximum cross-section construction.

XCMG Foundation has broken through multiple key core technologies in coal mine machinery and mine tunnel machinery, forming technological advantages such as "high-end hard rock type, intelligent control, high-efficiency cutting head, and customized R&D", and continuously contributing to the construction of smart and green mines.
