The geological conditions in the southwestern provinces are complex and changeable. Among them, fault zones, water-rich areas, large deformations of soft rocks, and karst caves are particularly prominent. The complex geological conditions have always been an unfavorable factor affecting the safe construction of tunnels. The DGZ150 series multi-functional drilling rig of CRRC Heavy Industry, as one of the powerful tools for advanced geological prediction of tunnels, plays the role of a "scout" for tunnels. With a maximum drilling depth of 150 meters, it uncovers the "mysteries" ahead of the tunnel face through advanced drilling and geological core sampling, providing strong support for the safe construction of tunnels.

Start from the "heart"
Battle in the high-altitude tunnels
The DGZ150G high-altitude multi-functional drilling rig of CRRC Heavy Industry made its debut in a high-altitude tunnel, contributing to the safe, efficient and environmentally friendly construction of high-altitude railways. The altitude of Tunnel A in Project A exceeds 4,000 meters. It is constantly cold and oxygen-deficient throughout the year. The surface of the mountain is mainly alpine meadow with few trees. The internal structure of the mountain is complex. To dig a tunnel in such a mountain is a great challenge for both personnel and equipment.
Facing extremely harsh construction conditions, the multi-functional drilling rig has been "threading the needle" within the mountain, demonstrating stable and efficient operation performance: 50-meter advanced exploration holes + measurement during drilling, and after construction, the drilling data is exported to generate geological cloud maps and log parameter curves, accurately understanding the geological information ahead. The rope core sampling with a diameter of 76 millimeters and a core diameter of 50 millimeters at a depth of 30 meters took 8 hours. The core integrity was high, and the core collection rate was over 95%. This further enabled the acquisition of information on the surrounding rock ahead, providing a safety guarantee for the subsequent tunnel construction.

Unveil the mystery of the mountain
The average altitude of Tunnel B of Project is 4,500 meters. The surrounding rock on site is mainly of grade IV and V. The tunnel body has various adverse geological conditions such as moderate rockburst, large deformation of grade 1 to 3, fault and fracture zones, extremely high-risk mud and water gushing, and high ground temperature. The advanced geological prediction process is particularly important. Facing such complex working conditions, the multi-functional drilling rig once again demonstrated its capabilities, completing core sampling multiple times to monitor the geological conditions ahead of the tunnel. The 30-meter water and pressure relief hole was carried out to eliminate the danger of sudden mud and water gushing. The advanced pipe shed and grouting reinforcement construction provided safety guarantees for the tunnel excavation work.
Comprehensive operation at the face of Tunnel B
Recently, the DGZ150 multi-functional drilling rig of CRRC Heavy Industry has once again contributed to the construction of the Chongqing-Wanzhou High-Speed Railway in Chongqing. The on-site geology of Tunnel C of this project is mainly mudstone, which is a key and difficult project of the section. Facing the lofty mountains and deep valleys, the multi-functional drilling rig completed the task with both quality and quantity guaranteed. It took 10 hours to collect the core with a 76-millimeter hole diameter and a 50-millimeter core diameter at a depth of 35 meters by rope, and the core collection rate reached over 95%, providing a strong basis for the tunnel excavation.
