How to install and use the breaker of a backhoe loader
To enhance the efficiency of the breaker and extend its service life, it is generally necessary to take into account the working quality of the main machine and the output flow and pressure of the spare valve used for the breaker.
I. Matching of the breaker hammer with the main unit
The match between the breaker and the backhoe loader can be determined through the following relationship formula.

In the formula, R represents the maximum breaking radius, in mm
S - Half the track of the loader, mm
Wb - Working mass of the breaker, kg
We - Mass of the backhoe loader, kg
If the ratio calculated by the above formula is less than 0.3, it indicates that the breaker is too small and is prone to damage. If the ratio is greater than 0.5, it indicates that the selection is too large and a new one needs to be chosen.
In addition, it is necessary to consider the connection dimensions between the breaker and the working device of the backhoe loader, as well as whether the fit of the mating holes and shafts is appropriate. Whether the flow rate and pressure required by the breaker are consistent with the output flow rate and pressure of the standby valve of the backhoe loader. If not, adjustments should be made within the adjustment range of the standby valve in accordance with the requirements of the breaker.
Here, taking the breaker of Shuishan Heavy Industry as an example, the matching relationship is introduced (see the attached table).

I. Installation
Since most of the main units have reserved oil port joints for the accessories when leaving the factory, when installing the breaker, it is only necessary to connect the pipelines, joints and the breaker together as required by the manual.
Ii. Usage
1. Operating method
Correct operation can enhance the working efficiency of the breaker hammer and extend its service life. The operation precautions are as follows:
(1) Each time it is used, first check whether the high-pressure or low-pressure oil pipe of the breaker is loose. At the same time, to be on the safe side, one should constantly check for oil leakage in other areas to prevent the oil pipe from falling off due to vibration, which could lead to malfunctions.
(2) When the breaker is in operation, the drill rod should always remain perpendicular to the surface of the object being crushed. And make the drill rod tightly press against the object to be broken. After breaking, the operation of the breaker should be stopped immediately to prevent empty strikes. Continuous and aimless impact can cause damage to the front body of the breaker and loosening of the main body bolts. In severe cases, it can even damage the main machine itself.
(3) When performing the crushing operation, do not use it by shaking the drill rod; otherwise, both the main bolts and the drill rod may break. Do not let the breaker drop rapidly or strike hard stones, as this may cause damage to the breaker or the main unit due to excessive impact.
(4) Do not carry out crushing operations in water or muddy ground. Except for the drill rod, no other parts of the breaker body should be immersed in water or mud. Otherwise, the piston and other similar functional parts on it will be prematurely worn out due to the accumulation of mud stains.
(5) When breaking particularly hard objects, start from the edge and do not strike continuously at the same point for more than 1 minute to prevent the drill rod from burning out or the hydraulic oil from overheating.
(6) Do not use the guard plate of the breaker as a tool to push heavy objects. As most of the backhoe loaders are small-sized machines with light weight, if they are used to push heavy objects, it may cause damage to the breaker at best, and at worst, it may lead to the breakage of the main engine boom or even the overturning of the main engine.
(7) Do not operate when the hydraulic cylinder is fully extended or fully retracted; otherwise, the impact and vibration will be transmitted to the hydraulic cylinder body and then to the main machine.
2. Maintenance and care
Due to the extremely harsh working conditions of the breaker, proper maintenance can reduce machine malfunctions and extend its service life. In addition to timely maintenance of the main unit, the following points should also be noted
(1) Visual inspection. Check whether the relevant bolts are loose. Whether each connecting pin shaft is excessively worn; Check whether the gap between the drill rod and the bushing is normal and if there is any oil seeping out between them. This indicates that the low-pressure oil seal is damaged and should be replaced by a professional.
(2) Lubrication. For the lubrication points of the working device, lubrication should be carried out before operation and after each continuous operation for 2 to 3 hours.
(3) Replace the hydraulic oil. The quality of hydraulic oil varies depending on the working environment. A simple way to judge the quality of the oil is to observe its color. When the deterioration of the oil quality is extremely serious, the oil should be drained, and new oil should be added after cleaning the oil tank and oil filter.
(4) The main body of the breaker is a set of precision components including a hydraulic circulation system. Generally, factories without dedicated equipment should not disassemble it by themselves but must entrust maintenance.
