Storage requirements for excavators

Before storing the excavator, it is necessary to inspect and maintain the entire machine. Remove the dirt from the machine body, lubricate all the components of the machine, check the lubricating oil and ensure it is at the appropriate oil level to avoid contamination.

Excavators should be stored in a dry indoor area during winter. If conditions do not permit, for those parked outdoors, a flat and dry ground should be chosen for parking. The piston rod of the excavator's oil cylinder should be retracted as much as possible. After parking, it should be covered with a tarpaulin.

Engine maintenance requirements

1. Drain the coolant from the engine (if antifreeze is used, there is no need to drain it).

2. Change the engine oil. New engine oil is usually neutral and will not corrode the metal parts of the engine.

3. Fill the fuel tank with diesel to prevent it from rusting.

4. During the shutdown period, the engine should be started once a month to make the machinery travel a short distance, so as to form a new oil film at the lubrication points of each part and prevent rust. It should be noted that the cooling water should be filled up before starting and drained completely at the end.

Electrical maintenance requirements

1. The battery should be removed and placed in a dry and frost-proof area. To keep its surface clean and dry, it is strictly forbidden to place conductive objects on the battery. When disassembling a battery, first cut off the negative terminal wire, and then cut off the positive terminal wire. When installing, connect the positive wire first and then the negative wire. Since the electrical systems of construction machinery are all grounded at the negative terminal, this is to prevent short circuits when disassembling and assembling the battery.

2. The removed lead-acid batteries should have their power checked monthly and be charged once a month if necessary.

Maintenance requirements for mechanical components

Excavators stored during the Spring Festival holiday must undergo anti-rust treatment.

Before storage, it should be determined whether to repair the excavator by touch-up painting or by re-painting the entire machine based on the size of the damaged paint area on its surface.

3. For the working devices of excavators, such as the bucket and the bulldozer board, the rust prevention method for the exposed metal parts is to apply grease.

4. When excavators are shut down, necessary maintenance must be carried out, damaged parts repaired, and they thoroughly cleaned to keep them in good technical condition.
