What fuel-saving measures are there for wheeled construction machinery
Fuel consumption of wheeled construction machinery is a major item in the construction cost. To this end, first of all, fuel with a freezing point 3 to 5 degrees Celsius lower than the lowest temperature of the construction area should be selected based on the temperature of the area where the construction is located. The fuel-saving measures that should be taken for construction transport vehicles and engines are as follows:
Try to reduce the vehicle's own weight as much as possible. Increasing the vehicle's own weight will correspondingly increase fuel consumption. Therefore, during construction, unnecessary additional equipment on the vehicle should be removed without affecting the quality of the project.
(2) Try to minimize the resistance during vehicle operation and acceleration resistance, etc. Greater resistance leads to higher fuel consumption.
When the vehicle speed is below 400km/h during construction, air resistance can be ignored. It should be noted that rolling resistance. When vehicles are traveling on uneven roads, due to their frequent bouncing, the deformation of the suspension system and tires increases, resulting in a significant increase in rolling resistance. Compared with driving on good roads, fuel consumption increases by 30% to 50%. Therefore, it is essential to maintain and repair the construction access roads well. At the same time, the tire pressure of a vehicle also has a significant impact on rolling resistance. If the tire pressure is reduced on a hard road surface, the tire will deform significantly and the rolling resistance will increase. If the tire pressure is reduced on a soft road surface, the contact area between the tire and the ground will increase, and the pressure per unit area will decrease, which will reduce the rolling resistance. Therefore, during construction, attention should be paid to the changes in road conditions and the appropriate tire pressure should be selected to reduce fuel consumption.
The transmission ratio of each gear in a vehicle's transmission has a significant impact on fuel consumption. During construction, it is advisable to choose high-speed gears with smaller transmission ratios as much as possible, which can save fuel.
(3) Increase the engine compression ratio to the standard value. The compression ratio of diesel engines is generally between 16 and 22. An increase in the compression ratio raises the temperature and pressure at the end of compression, which is conducive to the combustion and expansion of the mixed gas. It enhances the thermal efficiency of the engine, increases its effective power and reduces fuel consumption. The specific measures are:
Reduce the resistance of the intake system. The filter should be cleaned and maintained in a timely manner to ensure that sufficient air enters the cylinder promptly.
Keep the vehicle in good condition. For the cylinder pressure of an engine, generally, for diesel engines, it should not be less than 20% of the original standard pressure of the engine, and for gasoline engines, it should not be less than 30%. For the pressure difference between each cylinder, it is generally required that diesel engines do not exceed 8% and gasoline engines do not exceed 10%. If the cylinder pressure fails to meet the specified standard, the valves should be ground and the piston rings replaced as needed. It should also be noted that carbon deposits in the combustion chamber tend to cause the compression ratio to increase automatically. Excessively high compression ratios and carbon deposits can easily lead to deflagration in the cylinder, resulting in increased fuel consumption. Therefore, it is very necessary to remove the carbon deposits. In addition, the clearance between the intake and exhaust valves must be adjusted to the specified value, as either too large or too small a clearance will lead to an increase in fuel consumption.
(4) Adjust the fuel supply advance Angle of the engine properly. If the fuel supply advance Angle is too large or too small, it can both lead to an increase in engine fuel consumption. Therefore, to ensure good engine performance, the fuel supply advance Angle must be calibrated.
(5) Reduce fuel consumption per unit load. Under the condition that the vehicle's status permits, increasing the vehicle's load capacity to the rated load can not only enhance productivity but also significantly reduce fuel consumption per unit weight.
(6) Master the economic speed. During construction, the roads are generally informal highways, even roads. In such cases, the correct relationship among safety, fuel consumption and vehicle speed should be mastered. Taking the Tatra T815 vehicle at half load as an example, the relationship between its fuel consumption and vehicle speed is as follows: when the vehicle speed is 25-30km/h, the fuel consumption is the least. That is to say, during construction, this vehicle speed can not only ensure production efficiency but also achieve economic rationality.
(7) Choose the right lubricating oil. Choosing the right lubricating oil is a key factor in whether an engine can reduce power consumption and lower fuel consumption. Different specifications and grades of lubricating oil should be selected in winter and summer.
