Komatsu and Honda jointly developed the battery-swapping electric mini excavator PC05E-1

This machine is the second model developed after the successful market launch of the electric mini excavator "PC01E-1" in Japan in March 2022. The development of this machine will further expand Komatsu's electric excavator product range. Like the PC01E-1, which is mainly used in small-scale civil engineering, construction projects, gas, electrical, indoor piping projects and other construction sites, the Power source of the PC05 developed this time also adopts Honda Mobile Power Pack e(replaceable battery) and electric power unit (egX), thus achieving electrification.

Electric mini excavators feature a significant reduction in noise and heat emissions. Moreover, with "zero exhaust emissions", they are more environmentally friendly and can operate comfortably in both indoor and outdoor environments. Since the battery is replaceable, when the remaining battery capacity is insufficient, it can continue to work by replacing the battery without wasting time on charging. In addition, the battery is placed in the middle layout of the vehicle body under the operator's seat, achieving the same stability and compactness as fuel vehicles. Furthermore, the electric motor ensures power output across the entire speed range and can guarantee strong digging force even in low-speed operations where fuel vehicles are not proficient. In terms of maintenance and repair, since it is not equipped with an engine, there is no need to clean the air filter and other filters, nor to check the engine oil or replenish fuel. The time-consuming and laborious daily inspection and maintenance work will be greatly reduced.

We will carry out research and development and market launch of various electric construction machinery, and position 2023 as the first year of market launch for electric construction machinery. To promote the formation of the electric construction machinery market, we will actively seek the early market launch and popularization of PC05E-1.
