October 2024: Sales Overview of Internal Combustion Engines for Agricultural Machinery and Garden Machinery

In October, 368,700 diesel internal combustion engines were sold. Among them, 103,400 units were used for agricultural machinery and 0.08 million units for gardens. From January to October, the sales volume of diesel engines was 4.0942 million units. Among them, 1.2502 million units were used for agricultural machinery and 7,100 units for gardens.

Market usage situation:

In October, in the comparable market by application, the sales of passenger vehicles and general machinery increased month-on-month, while those of other application categories decreased month-on-month. Agricultural machinery usage decreased by 3.27%, and garden machinery usage dropped by 4.51%.

Compared with the same period of the previous year, the use for commercial vehicles and construction machinery decreased year-on-year, while the use for other categories increased year-on-year. Among them, the use of agricultural machinery increased by 47.96%, and that of garden machinery increased by 16.57%.

Compared with the cumulative growth of the previous year, all categories of uses except for agricultural machinery, power generation, motorcycles and general machinery showed negative growth. Among them, the use of agricultural machinery increased by 28.77%, while that of garden machinery decreased by 3.08%.

In October, 437,200 units of agricultural machinery were used. From January to October, 4.1213 million units of agricultural machinery and 1.2033 million units of garden machinery were used.

The main varieties are classified by single cylinder and multi-cylinder applications

Single-cylinder diesel engine

In October, the sales volume of single-cylinder diesel engines increased both month-on-month and year-on-year, but decreased year-on-year in total. Among them, the sales volume of single-cylinder diesel engines mainly used in the agricultural machinery field in October was 70,000 units, increasing by 5.48% month-on-month and decreasing by 2.94% year-on-year. From January to October, the cumulative sales volume was 696,100 units, a year-on-year decrease of 4.51%.

Multi-cylinder diesel engine

In October, the total sales volume of multi-cylinder diesel engine enterprises was 289,100 units, a decrease of 6.67% month-on-month and 16.20% year-on-year. From January to October, the cumulative sales volume was 3.316 million units, a year-on-year decrease of 3.57%. Weichai, Yuchai, Yunnei, Jiangling, Quanchai, Xinchai, Dongkang, Jiefang Power, Fukang and Shanghai New Power ranked among the top ten in terms of sales volume, accounting for 76.81% of the total sales volume of multi-cylinder diesel engines.

Small gasoline engine

The industry mainly engages in import and export trade and is significantly affected by both internal and external environments, resulting in a considerable impact. In comparable terms, the sales volume of small gasoline engines in October decreased month-on-month, but increased year-on-year and cumulatively year-on-year. In terms of supporting agricultural machinery, the sales volume in October was 333,800 units, a decrease of 1.60% compared with the previous month but an increase of 77.79% year-on-year. From January to October, the cumulative sales volume was 2.8712 million units, representing a year-on-year growth of 52.09%. In the field of supporting garden machinery, the sales volume in October was 105,800 units, a month-on-month decrease of 4.19%, but a year-on-year increase of 16.11%. From January to October, the cumulative sales volume was 1.1962 million units, a year-on-year decrease of 3.11%.
